A letter to the Parents

a friend gave me permission to post this.

i think it's a good letter, it might help others formulate their thoughts; she understands it may not be read or considered deeply, but things can't get much worse with her family at this point anyway.

no contact is not that much different than contact once per year or less, and sometimes it's just really important to have the people who should know you, at least know you a little.

Thanks for sharing this. I can relate to much of the same thought processes growing up - empathy for other people who I was sure would be killed by God, and fear of the demons.

Thankfully, after my awakening, I would happily sleep naked in the most haunted house in Europe with absolutely no fear of the demons. And just as thankfully, when I walk through a crowded mall I no longer view everyone I see as the walking dead, soon to be "destroyed", aka murdered, at Armageddon.

Thanks again for you sharing this letter. I wish I had time to read all the posts here, as many of them are very enlightening.

Lurkers! How do you put up with it?

i just cannot understand how any one in their right mind can read the experiences here concerning the wachtower society's false claims, lies, trickery and deceit, and the example shown by the so-called "elders" in treating the flock with disdain and cruelty, and still stay a jehovah's witness.. lurkers, how can you do that?

do you simply dismiss all the evidence?

have any of you experienced such evil acts personally and still stay connected to the jw's?.

Hi Pope,

I haven't visited this site for a while, but I did today and your post caught my eye (even though it is not real current).

I am staying in for a while to try and free as many of my friends and family as I can, while at the same time trying to prevent real damage both psychologically and physically to the people in my congregation. I continue to serve as an "under cover" elder, actually working in the best interest of the "sheep" and not the WTS.

Great news to report! I have recently heard that two of my very good friends that I have been working on have pretty much left "the truth". I can't be 100% sure it was all my doing, however I am confident that the seeds of doubt that I planted and watered over the last year helped the cause. Sadly, I can't celebrate with them just yet. There are many more minds that need to be freed before I can leave myself.

I am about to ramp things up a bit. Stay tuned for more news!

I feel that I can have much better success working from the inside instead of the outside. There are many beautiful, kind, and innocent people trapped inside of this dangerous cult who deserve a better life, and who deserve to have their eyes opened to the real truth. Future generations of children and grandchildren hang in the balance...

just an interesting thing that the ms molester on the run that we all have known about for some time is now getting circulation among the friends.. i've gotten 2 emails from elders with the link and it uses words like 'reproach' and to 'watch your kids' at the kh.. even though it's 'old' news it won't take long to get through the r&f now.. i consider this a great thing.. 5th.

It is very important to spread the word about the settlement for child molestation before the WT puts their collective brain power in to coming up with a clever spin on the whole thing. They are very good at doing this, so it is extremely important to spread the word BEFORE the SPIN COMES OUT!

Memorial Partaker totals for 72 years by request!

question from researcher: the other day you posted the australian peak publishers and i was wondering if it would be possible to post the numbers of the "memorial partakers" from 1935 to 2006. that would be about 72 years of totals.. my answer: yes, we can do that for you but it will take a few hours to get everything together and scanned.

i will have to use different forms of wt literature to accomplish this.. unless indicated otherwise, numbers listed show partakers for previous year and some could show: "still incomplete" but they are still listed as a total nevertheless.

You and an elder ONE on ONE, who would win ?

lets say, you would be alone with an elder in a room, and you wouldn't be allowed to come out of that room until both agree that either the watchtower is wrong or they are right.. who would win the discussion, you or the elder?.

you would be allowed to bring a bible and their literature to prove what you want to say..

Aha! A trick question, and a very good one.

The "other" elder would win, because at the end of the discussion his mind would be free.

He might leave the room bawling like a little girl, but the death grip that the WT held on his brain before he entered the room would have been broken. That would call for a celebration! Better than winning the lottery without a doubt!

It's true, that in one sense you could say that he "lost" the discussion - but how could you label someone as a loser when he would have gained so much by spending time in that magical room? You would have to call him the "winner" hands down!

The WT and the blind worker drones that serve as elders, cannot defend the indefensible track record of failed prophecies/predictions and the non-sensicle dribble that forms the backbone of WT doctrine. The FDS class has been weighed on the scales of justice and has been found GUILTY. Momentum is building. The jig is almost up. The WT is crumbling from within. Spread the word and save a life.

It is going to be a breath of fresh air, when you begin to enjoy your new life free from the cult-like influance of the WTD.

Just don't forget the people you care about who still may trapped! Do what you can to free as many minds as you can...even though some may become a bit dinkish due to the shunning policy - remember they are just drones who have been brainwashed and are not really thinking for themselves....yet. If you can free even just one or two people it will help keep the avalanche rolling.

Search restrictions on the new WT Library CD ROM???

has anyone come across any strange search restrictions in the latest wt library?.

i just tried a search for boreans.

i know they are mentioned in the bible, and in many of the publications...however the borean search mysteriously comes up empty..... i also tried beth sarin - and nothing... very interesting.

It is possible that in your eagerness for understanding that you misunderstood and spoke too hastily. Or, more likely, we misunderstood you and ran ahead. In any case, that was your understanding at the time (like 12 hours ago), or as we like to call it, "old light" (other people call it "wrong"). Don't let it keep you from blundering ahead on your search for truth.

I was actually going to wait a few years until most of you had forgotten what I wrote and then either

a) write a new post, as if the original post had never been written and make a back-handed comment about how some in times past actually spelled Beroeans, Boreans. Imagine that!

OR

b) write a new post explaining that when you look at the original greek the spelling of Beroeans as Boreans is actually quite acceptable. I will also quote a greek scholar who has been ostracized from the intellectual community for his outrageous views to support my viewpoint, while of course being careful not to quote anything else from the text I am referencing as the context would clearly show that both he and I are wrong.

Hi Gill,

Reading your story made me anxious, sad, and then happy because you obviously survived. However, after reflecting on your experience the only emotion that is left is ANGER.

Such a senseless and stupid policy that also happens to be MURDEROUS !! I can put up with a lot of senseless and stupid things - but when one of those stupid things crosses the line and actually KILLS people and puts others in DANGER OF DYING I get a wee but ornery.

That is an excellent point Pope.

It takes a while for JWs, even those who are lurkers, to come to grips with this fact. Some will hang on to parts of the story because they either want to believe it so badly, or because they were told certain things from as long as they can remember and it basically becomes hard wired in to their brains as fact. There are still a lot of very intelligent people who have a hard time seeing this.
